The most important thing in grooming your yorkshire terrier or maltese is to completely comb out every hair BEFORE the bath. If you have any tangles use Isle of Dogs N 61 on the tangle and it will comb out very easy - with less hair loss. You can buy this at Ponderosa Products.com. Make sure you clean the ears (use purple power - also can be ordered from Ponderosa Products) and trim the toenails. Teeth should be brushed before the bath. I have a shower stall cut down and mounted waist high for my dogs they love their shower and it is much easier to rinse ALL soap from the hair. I use a little Coat Handler and Pet Silk after the bath. This leaves the coats very shiny and easy to comb out.

Most any Hair dryer - grooming table etc. you need can be purchased from Pet Edge.com I like the grooming table that adjust to different heights I bought the large one so my supplies can be close at hand and leaves plenty of room for the dog. If you buy the large one you can add the rotating table in the middle for little puppies that like to play while being groomed it makes it much easier on the groomer

Start grooming your puppies at a early age and make it fun for them. They will always be easy to groom. My adults love it and when that dryer is turned on they line up waiting their turn. Shop at the shows often there you will find many new products to try ask different handlers what works best for them. Remember different dogs have different texture to their hair use the right product for that texture.

To show and finish a yorkshire terrier and maltese the eyes need to sparkle from being given a lot of love and patience. Healthy skin produces a pretty coat so nourish the skin from the inside out. Get regular checkups with your Vet. I will be adding different charts on How to Wrap the coat - Doing a Top Knot etc. on my GOOD THINGS page. Showing Dogs is a sport so most of all be a good sport - Help the novice - LOVE YOUR DOGS and BE KIND TO EACH OTHER.
Many Blessings Carol
